Association of Women Surgeons

The AWS Midwest Great Plains Region was thrilled to offer this free, virtual conference to all medical students featuring 

Residency Program Directors and Residents across surgical specialties.

​

This was an entirely student-run initiative driven by 3rd and 2nd year medical students

who worked together between busy clerkship schedules, class schedules, and research deadlines to put these events together.

 

In total, 12 one-hour events were held, aimed to enhance student knowledge about the surgical specialties, inform students on how to be competitive resident applicants, and connect students to strong role models and leaders in surgery. We hope viewers found these events useful no matter what stage of training they are in, and we wish them all the best as they pursue careers in medicine!

 

We would like to thank all of the wonderful attending and resident panelists

who donated time out of their extremely busy schedules to

partner with AWS for these events, help dispel myths about the surgical field, and ultimately benefit our students!
